i totally support matt's message and think its good he's making people uneasy. if there were more people like him in the cycling community - bullshit like doping wouldnt happen. props for putting up that link saunders, though yeah - hes not exactly hot shit in the pr department.
You could say he failed PR class, or simply that he has gone insane. It's totally inappropriate to run around printing the kind of bullshit he does... saying that Ed Burke was a doper and that's why he died of a heart attack?
People deserve better than to be guilty by association. He, by his own admission, get hammered during last years Tour and drove his car around town. An email from me suggesting drunken driving was not an effective method to dissaud dopers lead to him posting my email on his site asking for information about me.
Too bad I don't race Matt. And I surely don't dope.
the only guy with anything good to say is tygart... his comments were really solid and framed things up for the reader who may or may not be familiar with cycling and MD...
its got to be flattering to be mentioned in the same instance with kelli white... she came out looking really good in her doping afair... if you admitted doping you would want to look as good as kelli white in the end of it...
i cant believe kadis is still commenting on this bringing negative press on his team... his sponsors were named in the article!... and Andy Lee says some dumb crap that doesnt really say much... and doesnt really give the reader the impression that USA Cycling is at all serious about having a well articulated anti-doping position... these two failed PR 101...
where tygart shows he's got some real chops with the PR gig...
I think Matt is bitter and accuses anyone who questions him. He just points the finger. Find proof show proof and i will listen till them i see Matt as a punk that was not good enough to do what he wanted to do and cheated and still was not good enough. He should be treated like a spoiled child ignored until he comes down to earth and can communicate like a grown up.
Kadis is a PR retard. He probably is the fall guy for Kurt Stockton if PR for the team goes bad. They'll all point the finger at Josh and shit can him. Kodak/Sierra is the most morally corrupt team out there. I mean afterall, they have Jackson Stewart. What a pole smoker!
Kadis comes off as the PR idiot on that one. And the first post above about preserving your pathetic "future paychecks in the sport... you love" is exactly what I would expect from some loser D3 pro making less than $30k a year.
The pro scene is one big pharmacy. Sack up and change it. Oh, sorry you dont have Matt's balls.
F___ Sierra and their ugly ass uniforms. I stopped drinking that beer months ago. And Kadis, if I see you on the road I am going to f___ you up. I know you but you dont know me bitch!
I check out this site, it's cool. I saw MD's site, he sounds crazy. His self-comparison to Vin Diesel is hopefully a bit sarcastic. Saunders clearly has enough distance not be directly affiliated but to show that he cares about Matt. My question: why so much "D3" hate? Myself, I'm straight amateur, no pretense but it seems like this filter of a perceived cycling caste system is getting in the way of useful conversations. The first post about preserving salaries was an arguable position, easy to disagree with, but argueable. The response could have been more along the lines of "life is too short to make moral decisions to preserve a potentially meager (I have no idea) salary, or to live in fear of what you might lose, act right (as you concious dictates) and let the chips fall as they may. MD seems crazy but he also seems like he needs help. The hate isn't slowing down his tirades or clearing the air.
matt's story left the impression that you have to cheat to compete in american pro races and Europe or that he got in a bad crowd and projected it to all else or that he's making a lot of pretty convincing stories up. how do you keep from wondering everytime someone has a good day whether they're being honest?
Hmmm. Well, it seems like a hopeless battle to keep racing if you think all the guys who are doing well are doping. I mean, if the situation is that there are a lot of dopers and they are being rewarded for their actions then what would keep the honest guys racing? Maybe some clean riders could speak up (anonymously, of course). BTW Matt's stories aren't that hard to make up or exaggerate.
I figure you got on Zellner's bad side and that is obviously why you don't like him. This is understood because, he didn't want to resign you once the sponsors decided to go with new management. I assume you think he never really fully appreciated how you would go out of your own way to help and construct the team that you were captain of. But, despite all of this you shouldn’t have your tough guy cyclist friends threatening staff of other teams. I mean, come on, its bad for the sport itself. If managers and staff are afraid, of some skinny shaven grease monkey who lives in his friends parents basement and drives his own car all over the country to races just to race with these d3 pro teams, then you wouldn’t have such staff for these teams.
As for the other shit talkers on your site; there isn't much difference between the guys talking shit about D3 teams and the guys who check out your site, they both race 1,2 pro races and they are both broke. So, there shouldn’t be much hatin’ on the guys who make 500 bucks a month and are considered pro?
I mean seriously Erok, you got a website and your opinions on the sport of cycling are mostly respected by all of your viewers. But, once you start leaving posts up that are threatening and idiotically negative to the sport and those who work in the sport then your just having a stolenunderground.com. I dig Matt's message and I dig many of your thoughts on cycling but, as for the other crap on these two websites it just makes people loose respect for the guy who has a good message, which weakens the support behind the message.
I feel that it is best for me to remain anonymous. Because, I wouldn't want to be attacked the next time I showed up around a bicycle race. Therefore, maybe you can explain what exactly is "the biggest bunch of crap I have heard in a while". Are you saying you are not having associates threaten people on your site? Are you saying there is indeed a big difference between pro's and the category 1's and 2's they race with? Or are you saying that most of your website viewers to not respect your opinions? Set me straight. Are you saying that threatening people doesn't hurt the sport? Like I said before, I respect your opinion that's why I choose to read your blog. However, I also respect other people's opinions which seem to debate your's and some of your poster's.
"Decanio is 75% right and 25% stupid. but at least he puts it out there."
Agreed. I played JC and D1 baseball and nuts were using the juice in JC, so I can only imagine what happens in the cycling world. I think he's a little off the deep end though, but I dig that he's willing to risk his own career for his extreme message. One thing that confuses me though is that he has ethics selling cars? I am an underwriter for auto finance and spend half my days in dealerships. That's the worst place you can take the "holier than though" position. When we go into a dealership, it's often said to check your morals at the door.
It reads to me like Erik actually asked another poster NOT to make threats... eff it man... such a lame "watch your mouth" game that has to be played in this sport because it's so easy to burn bridges and turn off sponsors... eff the business-side of this sport. I love racing but if i wanted to be a liar i would go into politics, not try to promote politics in cycling...
Also- Matty is a good guy at the core. Try to imagine things from his perspective. Examine his personal history and you will easilly understand why he is so socially inept...
Even with all the shit that went down with stolenunderground (which is 50% good intention, 50% hilarious bullshit) there should be no question whether or not he was a solid, dependable teammate.
Free Matty D and bring the flare back into the peloton...
i just dont think a lot of people in cycling know how to handle a guy like matt... its a shame... it seems like this should just be a simple excersize for some of these so called PR professionals.. but it comes out looking like a really hard thing to get right for some reason... unless you are tygart...
what would be to happen if USA Cycling were to be hit with a festina affair?.. or a BALCO?... or just a really big round of positive tests?.. i think they would just have to sound like a bunch of knuckleheads!...
unfourtunate...
thats my point... not any of this other BS people are wanting to spout off about...
what's the deal with all the hatin??? it's pointless stressing over other peoples actions which you have no control over... and if your gonna post some highly opinionated post at least cowboy up enough not to post anonymous... that's enough of that... I agree with whoever wrote this: "enough of Kad-ass,Zellner,and Crazy matt.

Erok, let Matt fade away, supporting him will kill your paycheck now and future paychecks in this sport that you and I love.

i am too old and make too little to care if i can get in a team or not because i posted an article about MD...
i saw him start in cycling when he was 15... and since he has been gone i wonder what he has been up to...

Im not sure what to be more worried by. Doping in cycling or someone likening themselves to Vin Diesel in XXX.

kadis never hurt anybody... i cant be having people making threats...
come on man...
you're right. no threats and cheap w/ a no-name post. Kadis is just following orders. kind of like a concentration camp guard.
Decanio is 75% right and 25% stupid. but at least he puts it out there. do you want to read the Paceline.com or SU? easy answer!
If Kadis is part of an organization that is fronted by a thief (Zellner), then it is guilt by association.
