Had an article about the promotion of the event being really bad... there were a few frustrated people quoted in the article... The flip of that was that people in the city really like the race and they wish that between the city and threshold sports there could be more effective promotion of the race...
I have always thought that threshold events are poorly promoted... In the first years of the sfgp you heard nothing about it... Nyc is the same story from people that i know in the city.... If you are a bike person then you are more likely to know about the races... But if you arent hooked into the scene already then you may not know about what a fun time you can have at a race...

nyc is a joke-- the only surprise is that the race went on last year... you don't have to comment E, but i've always thought the second year nyc was a TOTAL fix... or well, on the level of a Euro crit fix. if at all possible, put on a show & let Marty win-- didn't make any difference since the media couldn't care less without Lance. nyc was also a lousy course; luckily the pro race didn't get rained on or else carnage would have ensued.
Q: was Threshold originally involved with TdG? maybe i'm misremembering but for some reason i recall that that whole Tour de California announcement a couple years back was Threshold trying to get revenge... hah hah, TdG organizers learned they could do a great job without Threshold.
anyway, just idele musing & i know ya'll are sorts stuck regardless.
Erok-
Did you happen to see a Discovery rider kick the crap out of a fan on the M. wall? It sounded awesome. The kid was tapping riders on the head and being a general dick and so a Discovery rider (my friend thinks it was Creed, but he's not sure and I was up by the jumbotron) got off his bike, walked back down to the guy, threw his bike at the guy, then spit in his face. No lie. If you were there, I want a first person account! Good luck in Nature Valley...
that guy was a prick, he had it comming.
That kid did have it coming. However I did see Roger Hammong shove a volunteer in the barriers - hard - cos this guy trying to keep the riders off the barriers so the 'big' names could come through. This was just a volunteer trying to do his job, by standing there. Jerk.
