my first inclination is always to give a big F-U...
and with respect to discovery team it stands that way still... i hope they are ostracised big time... it would make me laugh all year long... but i dont believe that the other teams will have enough balls to keep speaking strongly about it... it looks bad for the sport to have the best team sign up a guy who is in the middle of a thing.. for the moment he is ok... but its possible that he could get wrapped right back up in all this as soon as the spaniards are finished with their business... when the puerto case is over all the eveidence becomes a matter of public record things will get messy for some riders... its a big risk but i dont think that disocery team would take it if they werent 99 percent sure that nothing would come of it ever for basso... even if they were thinking that 80 percent something happens but their lawyers are good enough to spin it out and make it go away then thats bad for the sport though... will organizers exclude this team based on this ethical ideal that they have where "tainted" riders are concerened?.. i dont know... i bet everybody folds and life goes on... does the public care enough to think less of an event because basso is not in it?... no.. i dont think so... for sure people are sick to death of ulrich.. but basso not so much after the first part of 07.. which is good... it will cool down for him and landis... but for 07 i dont see people giving a shit to see them race... but they can be ok in 08... people just need some time to forget... but i can say that if basso wins a bunch of races people will not be so excited by it... but then if he keeps winning then it will flip over for him and then people will just like him again because he is a winner after all... even though the public in general will find sports more and more dishonest across the board...

Oh I have an idea. Next time you go to a race and somebody strong shows up. Just spread rumors that they are doping. Ooh, they are tainted, don't let them ride until the smoke clears. Have you ever noticed the pattern of all the investigations over the years concerning the pro teams. Winners and roulers alike are fingered. Ex: Look at just Motorola/Postal/Disco & Phonak family-tree of positives and being investigated and tell me there aren't programs in place. This issue shouldn't be about individual riders, but everyone thinks it is. Fucking joke.

Disco is interpreting(sic?) this gentlemens aggreement to their benefit. Teams that are upset don't have a leg to stand on (unless jmurd is associated with them. they can use his dick to lean on) because they're just as skanky (Lefevre, et. all). Fuck 'em. 1) the agreement said no team would sign a rider involved in puerto unless they agreed to submit to a dna test if asked. Basso did this, albeit he said a court would have to ask him for it.
2) there were no bags of blood or hours of phone calls linked to basso. check the disco press releases, lance mentions that they only had one phone record that SEEMED to suggest there might have been a phone call at some point.

Basso was not cleared. The Italian Federation CONI had a whack load of information but the Spanish Judge said that none of the cycling federations could use that evidence while the trial was on. It would obviously affect the trial. So until the trial is over, CONI can't use the evidence so they closed the case on him pending further evidence. That is not "cleared". Basso may still be called to Spain to testify. Do you live in a hole? You read that Lance says he's cleared and believe it? Lance also said he was "once again completely vindicated" when he won his settlement for his bonus for winning 5 tours. Interesting language when you consider that his lawyers found a loophole in the contract whereby it didn't say that he couldn't cheat to win the tour. He just had to win it. The insurance company had to settle or risk a countersuit of 22 million. Yeah, completely vindicated. Tested positive 5 times in 99 but no B samples. Oops tough luck. Completely vindicated. This stuff is on the internet you know. Heard of it?

Swiss cycling chief Lorenz Schlaefli said Thursday that he was likely to halt anti-doping proceedings against former Tour de France winner Jan Ullrich next month unless new evidence comes through.
Schlaefli said he was not able to use existing evidence received from the legal probe into the Operación Puerto doping ring in Spain because the Spanish investigating magistrate had forwarded it on condition that it was not used officially.
"Since these documents cannot be used, there's no sense in continuing this process. With these documents, officially we cannot do anything," the director of the Swiss Cycling federation explained.
However, Schlaefli emphasized that the procedure could be reopened if other evidence comes through.
"It's not finished afterwards. This doesn't mean we can't open new proceedings," he said. "If there's something else, it's clear that we can reopen it afterwards."
