2006 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah

World class professional cycling is coming to Utah August 7-12, 2006 at the Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah. The event consists of a six day, nearly six hundred mile stage race, and is being backed by the Larry H. Miller Group, owners of the Utah Jazz NBA franchise, and the Utah State Sports Commission. The event will be covered for 30 minutes each night by local television network KJZZ, and will feature a $40,000 prize purse for Professional and Category 1 men.
Billed as “America’s Hardest Bike Race”, the event will utilize the close proximity of downtown venues and high altitude climbs to create an extremely challenging and exciting race. Stages have been proposed for downtown Salt Lake City, the Miller Motor Park, Provo, Mt. Nebo, Park City, and a final stage of over 115 miles with nearly 17,000 feet of climbing.
Race Director, Jason Preston states, “We are honored to have the Larry H. Miller Group on board for our event. Our aim is to bring all of the top US domestic teams to Utah to do battle on our unrelenting climbs”.

This kinda looks like a good race for Burke Swindlehurst...in his hometown and his training roads. If Beamon lets him do it, my vote would be for Burke. I'll have to go and watch this race (or get hooked with a team to support). It'll be epic!

yes, then the race can grow, and the Euros will come and no one from this country will get into the race...unless they have 15grand

with that kind of money Swindlehurst will have to contend with more than locals or Baj...but I agree, he does seem to get his act together for certain events with big hills..we'll see

rb here... thanks for the vote of confidence anonymo. I am such a stellar climber, I am pretty sure I would crush everyone, but I will save them the embarassment and work for the race instead. Maybe I can jump in the opening crit., grab the jersey and quit.
