Threshold is coming a lot of fire recently.

Losing US Pro
Accusations about payouts
SF's unpayed accusations
Losing SFGP

David Chauner has given a lot of excuses for all of these problems. Are the pros out there going to attend the Philly weekend after all of this?

Erok...you wouldn't be racin san fran regardless next season.

Anonymous said...

Erok you should host a huge retirement party after captech next year and then you can retire and start putting on some of the best cycling events around the NC>

guys will race no matter what...

i am QUITTING.. not retiring..

Anonymous said...

you dont like san fran? is that because your not good enough to do a result there?

Anonymous said...

it sounds better to quit, then it looks like you walked away...i do the same things these days on rides, there is no one that can drop me, cause i choose when to come off the back, sometimes a little sooner than other times...so it looks better that erik is quiting, that way it will look like he has chosen to come off the back, instead of getting dropped (retiring cause he cant get a contract) very business savy move there.

correct... its hard and i dont like it... its a great event for the sport... but i dont like it as much as other hard races that i can do a result in...

Ya mean "I did not like it WHEN i was a bike racer" past tense.

game over big boy>

i quit.. siting a lack of potential for growth... in light of other opportunitis that have presented themselves (starbucks and home depot) it no longer makes sense to continue in the sport as i have reached the top of what is possible for me financially in my current circumstance...

thank you...

Maybe start a fig tree farm. Hell, let's start one in Slovers yard. You can take care of it and sell the figs to his fruity ass neighbors.

Kickin' a man when he's down...very cool. Although, I must say if I were a DS, I wouldn't hire Erik based on the listlessness I see in his attitude toward bike racing in his postings on this here site....but regardless of that fact, I'm sure he could prolly kick all ya'lls assed that are bagging on him here on HIS OWN SITE!!...

oh... i am never down!

i swear i am an unstoppable force...

i evolve and change and get bigger and deffer...

Hey I got a job for ya. You can clean our teams bikes. It pays $5 a bike.

You need to get a job where you are paid a commission on your deafness. That would be perfect as you don't like to have to listen to a bunch of BS anyway...Just get a big cardboard hand to hold up that says "talk to this."

I don't think you really want to be a bike racer, Erik...any truth to that?

erik saunders said...

well i tell ya.. if i were on a big team i wouldnt even be on the team for that race.. but in a small team i have to go... i want to race my bike more than anything... but there comes a time when you start to question the future viability of it... if i werent married i would continue no worries, but i have more than myself to think about...

Anonymous said...

I can appreciate that. Have you told the DS's you've spoken to in those terms how badly you want to race your bike? I think it makes a huge difference when you're honest about your passion.
BTW, congrats on being a father.

I like SF... I hope you are not really quitting. Quitting is for quitters. Winners never quit, until they are losers.

thats true... i know what i can do and who i am which makes it easy to set my limit and move on if i dont get what i want...

added bonus. you get to see what happens when a biker quits...

this site would be even more like a reality show...

It's not a reality show until J.Murder starts making out with Hamblen in the hot tub... Then we can watch with the hidden camera as they both tearfuly call their wives and beg forgiveness...
