this is really scary to me and i am not sure that this is the kind of government that i want to have... this is the kind of thing you gotta watch out for... dangerous precedents... slippery slope... all that...
i will have to keep an eye on this story... to learn more about the particulars... and the legal ramifications...

I used to be a lawyer and occasionally took appointments as a guardian ad litem (representing minors) in cases where the state department of human services was seeking to terminate parental rights of one or both parents. What I learned, among other things, was that if you are poor and receive any type of state assistance, then the state will hold you to a higher standard of care for your children than if you are wealthy. There's a book to be written here.
