it would be nice if they are able to move the SFGP to San Jose...
i think that the city is losing something by not having the race.. but its up to them to set their priorities and to etablish their boundaries politically... its a shame that the merits of the event couldnt be made compellingy clear to the city... but what can you do?...
will the ToC replace what tehy lost in hosting their own classic event?... no way...
i dont see them being able to have the same epic kind of course that the SFGP had... the two vent would have had a nice synergy for the city... but i dont see ToC replacing what was valuble about the SFGP...

now what does this really mean?... i grew up in RVA when we were consistently in the top 3 per capita murders.. i always felt safe because i knew what was going on... i was for sure street smart... i feel confident in saying that in the case of RVA its violent crime is not random and is tied almost exclusively to its drug traffic problem... any city on the I-95 between Miami and Maine is going to have a problem with violent crime... i think that if you arent out in the street you will have much less of a problem... and if you can live a life where you are not required to go near projects or areas where drug violence is prevalent then you are living in a much different city than the RVA that made this list... you might have a break-in (i never had one and i lived close to the hood) but if you dont have any involvement with drugs, or "street life" then you are significantly more likely to die in a car accident than as a result of violent crime...
so then.. when you consider what cities are the most dangerous wouldnt it be more accurate to include all possible dangers?.. or at least the dangers that people are more likely to be affected by?... like car accidents, cancers caused by environmental factors (DDT or radon, or lead in the water, or something like that) death by house fires, hurricanes, or earthquake?...

offer me a job!...
ok... now that i quit racing you can offer me a job.. we already estabished that i have no CV so you just have to take my word for it that i can do anything and have probably done whatever you are thinking of hiring for before... so then.. offer me a job... cycling realted jobs are fine.. but i am also interested in marketing and PR jobs... i like work from home jobs alot.. and i like also jobs where i am indy contractor... but i would also be an employee if its a good fit... part time work is great... especially work from home part time...
no more SFGP
i guess they couldnt work it out... thats fine because i never liked that race anyway.. and i look at it as just one less race that i have to do next year...

FIGS
there were two ripe figs on my fig tree and they were so fucking good... let me tell you... get fruit trees... figs and dates are great they produce fruit easily and they grow in almost any climate... and they are cheap... mine is a little tree not even 6 feet tall and it produces fruit... it took a year after planting for it to make fruit.. once it got established it went nuts and made fruit...

dot racing is a cool feature of MotionBased.com using the data upladed from your Garmin GPS Device.. you can compare several runs over the same course.. this is a dot race of pro biker mark weir at the road rage...

reading that bit about matt vs stockton/zelner/kadis on stolenunderground made me think what a dumb way to handle the whole thing that was... cover-ups and re-do's trying to avoid who matt is and what he has done...
so huge props to the big JRB for coming clean when one of his riders got caught with growth hormone... it was in a team search of hotel rooms that they found it (a team search!.. thats taking the bull by the horns)... they they could have kept it quiet but they didnt.. and then to make sure they had that stuff tested to see what it was... and then they told everyone... did it look bad for the sponsor?.. hell no!!!... it looked good for JRB and the team and the sport to have this handled in a serious, honest and transparent way...
its ok to talk about drugs and to admit that it exists... silence and avoidance of the issue isnt the answer...

USPRO championships moves to Greenville, South Carolina
USA Cycling has announced that the 2006 US professional championships will take place in Greenville, South Carolina with the road race on September 2, 2006 and a time trial on August 31. The 2006 races will be restricted to US citizens who must be members of UCI-registered trade teams. The move is a departure from the championships' traditional venue of Philadelphia where it has been held since its inception in 1985.
yeah... thats nice.. i dont particularly care... they just really need to have a race and call it the championships and give a jersy to the winner.. its nice to have no foreigners finally... it would have been cool to have the race in a major market, but hey... nobody probably bid from a major market.. and i bet there is no on-going effort to cozy up to officials and sponsors in major markets, so then... what can you do?...

red bull road rage- treated athletes like they should be treated... take media seriously... pro production effort.. course safety
superweek- provides a series for young riders to get a lot of quality racing in and prove themselves against a good pro field.. great competition... nice spectators...
nature valley- actively seeks input and criticism from cycling experts (the riders, imagine that!)... great courses.. always looking to change for the better and have a nice race that the athletes enjoy...
captech classic- pro organiztion... media smart... dedicated harworking organizers... works with the city very closely... willing to try different things...
charlotte- its got a lot of money (not if you are a golfer though)...
t-town- i think i might have to make it back there...
all races in the mid atlantic in the summer- you can seriously make a bit of money if you are a good young rider... its good hard racing to cut your teeth on and see what kind of level you really have.. the locals are good.. then there are always a few extra regional stand-outs.. and then you will always get a few good pros that time of the year... if you are a young cat 1 and you are killing it at races like park ridge or mt holly or faulkner honda then you are a good bike rider...

I thought the course was safe.... They added a lot of extra barriers, 6 foot fences, and hay bales...
if they had a series of these and i could make ok money i would quit road racing and do them all...
This was a great event to go to... The athletes were all super cool and the vibe was real chill... We treated great by jon mesko at giant and the redbull staff... And bcore did event productions and they were all cool too... If ever crit could be so much fun it would be nice...
They just need to come up with a better spectator format... Like using a street luge type course so you can see more action and do 2 up instead of 4... Like do a match sprint format...

on The World radio program there was a story about a Sudanese imigrant who serves in the US Army and is stationed in Iraq... in the back of an armored veicle soldiers joke and haze eachother... the sargeant slowly rubs the ear of the "new guy" to get a rise out of him minutes before they step out into the hot ass sun to patrol Mosul... then its game on because they have a job to do that has serious repercusion on many levels... all business in a life and death situation...
i hear stuff like this it makes me want to smack anybody who wants to tell me about "professionalism" or "appropriate behavior" in cycling... as if this is all so serious that you cant have a good time and just get silly when you feel it...

Ride To Reunite
Join the TEAM!! Help bring awareness and aid to recent Gulf hurricanes victims by, supporting the Ride To Reunite.
Our vision is to utilize the sport of cycling to demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility and concern.
We are uniting the cycling world in an effort to raise worldwide awareness, relief, and funds for the victims of the recent Gulf hurricanes. The Ride To Reunite specifically focuses attention on the critical need to reunite children and their families who were affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. To quickly raise awareness we have joined forces with an established charity. Save the Children, is the leading US and world wide independent organization creating lasting change for children in need. Through its Gulf Coast Recovery Fund For Children all money generated will be put to immediate use. All donations will be a 100% tax deduction.
Our goal is to raise $100,000 for the hurricane victims. As cyclists we know it takes a TEAM to achieve, this couldnt be truer now. Help us raise awareness by joining the group of already committed cyclists for a segment of the ride or sponsoring a rider. Other ways you can contribute are by donating products that can be used in our raffle to generate money for the charities.
Ride Info: We will be departing with a sponsor and media kickoff celebration in San Diego at 8am Saturday October 22nd, from the San Diego Velodrome and complete the Ride To Reunite at 3pm Sunday October 30th in New Orleans.
Our team will include 8-10 top professional cyclists committed to riding from San Diego to New Orleans. Alongside the pros will be an equally committed group of hundreds of cyclists prepared to ride segments of the journey. Ride logistics have been planned for those riders going the distance including navigators, mechanics, a team chef, mobile support, and traveling caravan.
Media coverage will be utilized in the eight major US cities in route from San Diego to New Orleans (San Diego, CA Phoenix, AZ Tucson, AZ El Paso, TX San Antonio, TX Houston, TX Baton Rouge, LA New Orleans, LA).
No matter what is in our future as cyclists we are committed to causes outside ourselves. Now our focus is on the young victims and their families affected by recent hurricanes. As cyclists we use intense efforts to succeed, and it will take an intense effort of social responsibility to win the battle against the Gulf hurricane disasters and the continuing long term effects.
This is a great way for the cycling community to demonstrate their concern and compassion for the hurricane victims. The support we have been getting already is amazing. That support will only grow with each city we pass through building into a huge surge of aid and assistance.

ok...
i did my first ride in a long time suday.. we did 6 hours from here to palm springs and then we drove back... it was going good until we got down 3500 feet to the desert floor and it was stupid hot... and there was a headwind... and with 2 hours to go i thought i was going to burst into flames and i saw a fountain in front of some gated community and i dove into the fountain... and then after that it wa like new legs.. but once i dried off i couldnt hardly pedal my bike.. and at a stop light i looked over and saw some sprinklers so i sprinted over and hopped the curb and rode onto the grass in fron of the IMAX theatre and i stood in teh sprinklers until the light changed and then i sprinted to catch back up... it was a tough day...

i am pretty hot right now about my cingular service
i get my bill and its stupid high... so i call them up to get it rectified and they say that they cant do anything... and i go no way.. my plan is this and that.. and they go, no thats not a plan we offer.. and i go yeah... you sent me a mailer to get me to migrate to cingular from at&t for this kill plan... and they go no.. thats not a plan... and i go... why would i switch to you for a WAY WORSE plan?... i wish i had saved the mailer... i had 850 minutes with unlimited night and weekends and unlimited mobile to mobile for 39.99 with at&t.. and then i got this offer to do cingular for 1000 minutes, mobile to mobile, and 5000 night and weekend minutes... so they say my plan doesnt exist.. and never has... what can you do?... i got them to cut the bill down...

My teammate, Allan Butler, was killed crossing "the strip" early Friday morning.
Allan had just started a new job at Reynold's, and recently wrapped up the Utah Cycling Association year long title. He left behind his wife, Jenny, and nine month old daughter Odessa. We are trying to organize various fundraisers to benefit the two of them.

The Allan Butler Charity Ride is being planned. Tentatively, it is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2005 at 9am. It will leisurely ascend Emigration Canyon (one of Allan’s favorite rides) and return to the start (parking and location being planned). Donations will be graciously accepted. Coffee will be served at the top of Emigration Canyon. A post-event raffle is being planned for cycling related donations. With any gifts or donations for the raffle please contact Gardie Jackson at 435-901-1972 or gardie@.att.net.
